. The passenger and vehicle ferry KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya was on its way to Bali from Ketapa Port, Banyuwangi, and approximately 30 minutes into the journey, the ferry capsized. As reported by Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency(BASARNAS) located in Surabaya, the region had 65 people onboard, including 53 passengers and 12 crew members, and claimed the incident happened at 11 PM local time. 31 people have been claimed to be rescued, while the 30 still missing are the subject of the search operations.

The ongoing mission still has not resulted in any breakthroughs, and is composed of 13 boats and 1 helicopter desperately trying to locate missing people in the stormy waters of Bali. Also, it was noted that 22 vehicles were on board the ship at the moment of its sinking, which further complicates the retrieval effort. The reasons for the ferry’s sinking near Bali are still being looked into; it is possible that strong winds and high waves contributed to the accident.
